What a difference a year makes!

Wednesday June 30th, 2010 started out as a normal day. Scott went to work and I picked up around the house. Because my cell phone had been lost for a couple of weeks, I facebooked my best friend Ashley to see if she wanted to go shopping. We made a plan for her to pick me up in an hour and I went upstairs to take a shower and get ready. On the way up the stairs, I remembered I had one pregnancy test left in the back of the hall closet. Since I wasn't suppose to get my period until Friday, I figured I would take the test, and it would be negative. Imagine my surprise when a cross immediately appeared! When I saw that I started to shake. I really didn't think I was reading it right. Since I had no phone, and I wanted to make sure I was reading it right, I ran to my car and went to Ashley's. I'm sure she was surprised to hear me banging on her door. As soon as she opened it, I threw the test and the directions at her and screamed, "Tell me what this says!" She looked at the test and the directions and we both started jumping up and down.
When we calmed down, we both agreed it would be best to get another test just to be sure. We went to get in the car, and I realized that in the excitement of leaving my house, I forgot to put on shoes.

After Ashley lent me some shoes, we went to the store to get two more test. I took one more when we got back her house, and you guessed it-positive!

Our next stop was the store to pick up a baby outfit to give Scott to let him know he was going to be a daddy. I finally decided on a Virginia Tech onsie and sweatsuit. He was definately suprised. Even though we were both excited, we had no clue how drastically our lives would change. One year later our baby is almost four months old and such a joy!

My favorite outtake. I think I caught her mid-sneeze :)

Babies don't keep

Babies Don’t Keep
by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo

The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren’t his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

Happy Father's Day!!

 "A girl's first love is her daddy"-Anonymous

I was always a daddy's girl. As a little girl, I can remember listening for sound of the gravel as his car pulled in, and running to the door. Not much has changed since I became an adult. I still think my daddy is amazing, and we are incredibly close, even though we live 12 hours apart.

When we found out our baby was a girl, I hoped she would get to experience being a daddy's girl too. Well I didn't have to worry. This little girl adores her daddy! As soon as he walks in the door from work, her eyes light up and she gets the biggest smile on her face. Scott is such a good daddy to her, and they enjoy each other so much! Happy Father's Day to my daddy, and to my husband who my little girl loves with all her heart!

There's a new little O!

Early Friday morning a new little one came into the world. Scott's brother and sister in law had a beautiful baby girl. Aubrie was born at 4:53 am at 6 pounds 10 oz (same as Maddie!) and 19 and 1/2 inches. We love her to pieces and can't wait for Maddie to meet her!
Aubrie came just in time for Keith to celebrate his first Father's Day!!

3 months old!

Wow, I  can't believe my baby is three months old. This has been the most eventful, stressful, fantastic and fun time of my life. She is so big!

Maddie changes everyday it seems. Right now she:
-is about ten and a half pounds. We won't know exactly until her doctor appointment next month.
-was 24 inches at two months. I definitely think she is getting longer. Her feet stretch over the end of her bouncer.
-sometimes sleeps through the night. She falls asleep about 8:30, and if I can wake her up at eleven and feed her she will sleep until 6. If I can't wake her up (and sometimes there is no waking that girl up, no matter what I do) she will wake up for about twenty minutes at 3. Either way this mama appreciates getting more sleep. Especially since after her 6 am feeding, she goes back to sleep for about an hour and a half.
-loves to stick things in her mouth, especially her fingers
-still needs her paci to fall asleep
-is beginning to reach for things and hang on to them.
-holds my hand when she is nursing  <3
-drinks four ounces when taking a bottle
-smiles so big when when her daddy comes home from work
-can roll from back to front
-takes Zantac twice a day for her reflux
-still spits up a lot (although much less now that I am limiting dairy in my diet)
-loves to kick
-loves ceiling fans, especially the one in our bedroom
-is SUCH a cuddlebug!

Maddie, you are growing up so fast. Everyday you discover something new. I love seeing you personality develop. Mama and Daddy love you so much!

Don't blink

All of a sudden, I blinked and my newborn turned into a baby.
5 days old

almost 3 months

I'm trying very hard to not be sad and just enjoy the fun little person she is turning into. And the fact that she slept from eleven until six last night helps too!

Relay for Life

Every year my mother in law is the captain of a Relay team. We always go and have a great time. This was little missy's first time. She was the star of the show and got lots of cuddles :)

Introducing.....

my little family!
Scott and I have been married for almost three years. In March, we were blessed with the birth of our beautiful baby girl, Madilyn. She is the light of our lives and is such a happy baby.

This blog will hopefully help me do a better job writing down and keeping track of how fast she is growing. These past twelve weeks have flown! I will leave you with a few more pics of my beautiful girl (sorry I am a little biased).
